Riverwalk Centre in Courtenay Features Loft-Style Condos and Commercial Space

Courtenay’s new Riverwalk Centre is a mixed used building, featuring 16 unique modern condominiums with lofts all featuring views of the mountains or of the river and ocean. These loft-style homes are located on the upper floor of the building. The ground and mezzanine floor are zoned to accommodate commercial and office space.

The unique design of this building makes it a first of its kind in Courtenay. The developer, Highstreet Ventures Inc. (Scott Butler) along with partners Don Bell and Matt Butler of Traine Construction Ltd and one other investor have built four projects in Courtenay, including The Tides, a 45-unit condo project alongside the river, a Holiday Inn Express on Cliffe Ave and the recently constructed and sold out 71-unit residential condominium project called Riverstone.

Highstreet Ventures Inc. has jsut been honoured by PROFIT 500 on its 29th annual ranking of Canada’s Fastest Growing Companies.

The residential units are all designed differently, ranging in size from 551 sq. ft. to 1,101 sq. ft. There are 16 floor plans to choose from and the prices range from $229,000 to $399,900. Some of the features include: 15’ ceilings; large 7’ tall windows in every home; loft bedrooms that open to the living room below; open concept kitchen, dining, and living space, quartz countertops in the kitchens and bath; large format tile flooring throughout; and Energy Star stainless steel appliances and range hood exhaust fan.

Sliding barn style bedroom doors are featured in premium suites. There is a large shared rooftop patio for all residents to share. These units are expected to be released for sale on Jan. 6, 2018, with occupancy expected in February 2018.

Tenants who have purchased office/commercial space on the main floor include chiropractors, therapists and mortgage
brokers. Other tenants have expressed interest in the building. To date, there are three spaces left, ranging in size from

New Condo Projects Nearing Completion in Courtenay, Updates Slated for Campbell River Golf Course

Construction on the 71-unit residential condominium development called Riverstone is in the finishing stages.

Siding and interior finishing is underway and nearly complete. Landscaping is set to begin soon and the entire project will be complete by late July. Residents will be moving in as of August.

These condominium units went on sale June 16, with one-bedrooms starting at $160,000 and two bedrooms at $220,000. The units vary in size from 568 to 897 sq. ft.

A building permit with a value of $7.9 million was issued for this project in October of last year. Traine Construction is the general contractor for this project. For more information, go to: www.riverstonecondos.ca/

Adjacent to this project on Cliffe Avenue in Courtenay is a mixed use project called Riverwalk Centre, which includes commercial space on the main floor and condominiums on the upper floor.

This project, along with its sister project Riverstone, are both developed by Highstreet Ventures Inc. Concrete and wood framing of the commercial space and condo lofts on the Riverwalk building are now complete.

Occupancy is still slated for the beginning of December with tenant improvements for the commercial space able to start in September. This building will include 16 condominiums and 14,000 sq. ft. of commercial space on the main floor of the building.

Campbell River council gave third reading to a zoning amendment application to change property zoning and allow for expansion of the Campbell River Golf and Country Club, formerly known as Sequoia Springs Golf Course. The Mailmans, a local Campbell River family, purchased the course March 1 and have some exciting changes planned.

The new vision for the course includes: expanding amenities and revitalizing the course; a renovation to the clubhouse to upgrade the dining room, meeting rooms and banquet facilities; and a state of the art driving range.

A spa and wellness centre is also under consideration for the future.

Approval of the application would update the golf course definition to include retail, accommodation and health and wellness facilities.

Kyle Stoudt, a CPGA professional has been hired as the club’s new Golf Professional and Manager of day-to-day operations.

The grand opening of the Campbell River Golf and Country Club is scheduled to take place in the Spring.
