The BC Construction Association provided the following updates on April 22:
Health Minister Adrian Dix thanked the industry and recognized Construction Month during the April 22 COVID-19 briefing, acknowledging the thousands of skilled tradespeople across BC working on critical infrastructure, and the significant adjustments that worksites have made to keep workers safe while continuing to operate as an essential service.
On Tuesday, Dr. Henry reiterated the importance of self-quarantine for 14 days for any workers coming back to BC from the Kearl Lake Project in Alberta. If you’ve already been back for more than 14 days and experienced any symptoms during that time, or your family members did, please call 811 even if you’re feeling better.
To support B.C. companies, societies and co-operatives through the COVID-19 pandemic, electronic meetings will be allowed during the Province’s state of emergency. The order helps corporations hold annual or special general meetings, in accordance with the provincial health officer’s order against gatherings of more than 50 people.
BC’s transportation infrastructure is suffering during the pandemic: Translink and BC Ferries are both reporting serious losses and severe challenges.
The BC Real Estate Association is predicting that housing prices will rebound more quickly after the pandemic than in past recessions, due to low interest rates and pent-up demand.
